The Atlanta Dream close out the 2014 regular season on Sunday with a matchup against the Connecticut Sun. at 19-14, the Dream have clinched the top seed in the East for the 2014 Playoffs that begin next week. A win on Sunday would tie the 2011 team for the most wins during a regular season.
Atlanta has won two straight games since dropping nine of 11 and are looking to build some momentum heading into the playoffs. The Dream clinched the top seed in the East's No. 1 seed with a 96-82 win over Phoenix on Wednesday. They followed that up with another dominating performance on Friday in a 92-76 win over the Tulsa Shock.
However, both of those wins came at Philips Arena where Atlanta is 13-4 this season. The Dream are just 6-10 on the road and have lost four-straight heading into Sunday's matchup. Atlanta has taken two of the three meetings with the Sun this season but lost their only trip to Mohegan Sun Arena 85-76 back in June.
The Dream are finally healthy again as leading scorer Angel McCoughtry returned to the court in Friday's win over the Shock. She had missed the previous two games with tendinitis in both feet. She came off the bench and finished with 12 points in 15 minutes and most importantly looked healthy. Sunday's game has no bearing on the playoff standings so Michael Cooper has the luxury of limiting minutes for some of his regulars if he chooses to go that route.
Its been a tough season for Anne Donovan and the Sun who come in at 12-21 and in last place in the Eastern Conference standings. Connecticut has lost eight of 10 after Friday's 71-67 loss to Washington that clinched a playoff spot for the Mystics.
