Quin Snyder's departure has left the Atlanta Hawks searching for a new assistant and a new summer league coach. Darvin Ham will take over the summer league duties per a report by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Snyder headed things up but all of Atlanta's coaching staff played a part with last season's summer league team. Ham was the natural successor and could be in line to slide into Snyder's seat on the bench next to head coach Mike Budenholzer.
Gone are the days when the Hawks would field a summer league entry made up of nothing but free agents. A large portion of the roster this summer will be comprised of players who the Hawks hold rights to. 2012 draft pick John Jenkins is expected to compete as he continues his return from back surgery. Also 2013 picks Lucas Nogueira, Dennis Schroöder and Mike Muscala are all expected to participate. The Hawks currently hold two picks in the 2014 NBA Draft and both of those players could also be on the summer league roster.
Summer league in Las Vegas runs from July 11-21. The Hawks are one of 24 teams that will participate and are guaranteed at least five games.
