Atlanta Hawks point guard Dennis Schröder is eyeing a return to international play. John Hobbs of Talkbasket reports that Schröder expects to play for Germany during the qualifying rounds of the 2015 Eurobasket tournament which begin in August.
"For me it goes without saying that you play for the national team. I am ready to help my team-mates,"
Schröder hopes to help Germany qualify for the Eurobasket and then obtain a berth for the 2016 Olympics. He skipped the 2013 tournament in Slovenia to focus on preparing for the NBA Draft and his rookie season. The German National Team is also hopeful that Dirk Nowitzki will also be part of the Eurobasket qualifying effort.
"I've been in touch with Dirk during the season," said Schröder. "We spoke about the national team and agreed that we both want to play at EuroBasket and the Olympics. That's the goals we're setting and we want to reach together."
Schröder just wrapped up his rookie season in the NBA and is expected to take part in the Las Vegas Summer League from July 11-21. The first Eurobasket qualifying game will be held on August 10. Here is a complete look at the schedule: (H/T to forum user wmcgee_va for the info)
