2014 WNBA: Dream look to get back on track against Sparks

The Atlanta Dream have lost three of four and look to get back on track Tuesday night at Philips Arena when they take on the Los Angeles Sparks

Jennifer Stewart-USA TODAY Sport

Its been an up and down start to the 2014 WNBA season for the Atlanta Dream. Since winning their first two games, Atlanta has dropped three of their last four. Inconsistent play at both ends of the floor have hurt the Dream as they try to become more comfortable with head coach Michael Cooper's system. Atlanta looks to get back on track Tuesday night when they face the Los Angeles Sparks in a nationally televised game on ESPN2.

The Sparks come in at 2-2 and having dropped the first of a three-game road trip on Sunday to Washington in triple overtime. Candace Parker finished with 32 points against the Mystics and is off to a great start averaging 24 points, 9.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists.

Atlanta's Angel McCoughtry will be looking to rebound from a season-worst performance on Sunday. The WNBA's reigning scoring champ is averaging 18.4 points on the season but was held to just seven on 2-14 shooting in Sunday's loss to the Sun. McCoughtry missed an earlier game in Chicago with a sore shoulder and is a little banged up but the Dream need her scoring punch.

The game will also mark the first return of Armintie Herrington to Philips Arena since signing with the Sparks over the summer. Herrington played the last five seasons with the Dream. She is an accomplished defender and will most likely see a lot of time opposing McCoughtry on Tuesday.
