Atlanta Hawks 2013 draft pick Lucas Nogueira was in action on Sunday as Estudiantes defeated Rio Natura Monbus 87-77. Sunday's game would have been a matchup between a pair of 2013 Hawks draft picks had Mike Muscala not bolted Spain for the NBA earlier this season.
Estudiantes used a big second quarter to take control and improved to 11-19 on the season. Nogueira played 12 minutes off the bench and finished with five points and six rebounds. He made his only field goal attempt and was 3-for-4 from the free throw line. Kyle Kuric led Estudiantes with 22 points. Travis Peterson led Monbus with 21.
Nogueira has played 13 games in the Spanish ACB and is averaging 6.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in just over 16 minutes of action. He is shooting 70.2 percent from the field and 71.4 percent from the free throw line.
Both Estudiantes and Rio Natura Monbus are among six teams that are tied for 11th place with an 11-19 record. Monbus has gone 2-8 since losing Muscala to the Hawks.
