Atlanta's frontcourt could look a bit different next season but it appears that Pero Antic will be back in the fold. In an interview with Eurohoops, Antic said he enjoyed his season in Atlanta and is planning to return for next season.
What's next for you? Staying with the Hawks?
"Yes! I'm staying in Atlanta because I have one more year in my contract. I feel good in the team. City is great, people are great and I enjoy my time there".
The second year of Antic's contract is unguaranteed if he is waived on or before July 15 according to ShamSports.com. However, it's unlikely the Hawks will waive him given that he is only owed $1.25 million for next season and played a big part with the team after Al Horford was lost to season ending pectoral surgery.
Antic also said that he would not play for his national team this summer and would focus on recovering from what was a long NBA season. He suffered a fracture in his ankle in January and was never pain free for the rest of the season. He indicated that he would be following an offseason program developed by Atlanta's strength coaches this summer in an effort to prepare for next season.
