Atlanta Hawks officially sign Mike Muscala

The Atlanta Hawks have made official the signing of second round pick Mike Muscala

USA TODAY Sports

Mike Muscala is now officially a member of the Atlanta Hawks. The team made the signing official via press release on Thursday just minutes after announcing the release of Dexter Pittman. The addition of Muscala has been a week long process as a buyout with his Spanish team was conducted earlier in the week.

"We are really excited that Mike was available to join our team. We've closely monitored Mike and his progress throughout the ACB season. Coach Fernandez and his Obradoiro CAB club did an excellent job with his continued development," Ferry said. "Due to our current injuries, Mike's representatives presented the concept of Mike joining us for the remainder of the season. With our roster situation and his strong play, we felt now was a good time to add Mike to our program," Ferry said.

Muscala was drafted by the Hawks in the second round of the 2013 NBA Draft out of Bucknell where he starred for four years. He went to summer league with Atlanta before signing to play in Spain with Rio Natura Monbus. There he averaged 14.6 points while leading the league in rebounding at 7.8 per game. He will wear No. 31 for the Hawks.
