Earlier in the evening on Wednesday, Hawks center Gustavo Ayon was ruled out for the upcoming game against the Washington Wizards, and now, small forward DeMarre Carroll has joined him on the sidelines.
DeMarre Carroll is out again. Cartier Martin starting in his place. #ATLHawks

Carroll's absence on account of a lingering hamstring injury was somewhat expected after he failed to appear in Tuesday night's loss to Indiana, but that doesn't soften the blow for the already undermanned Hawks. Without DeMarre and Gustavo Ayon in the lineup, Mike Budenholzer is down to nine healthy bodies for the game, and on the defensive end, Carroll would have been a useful piece in counteracting bigger lineups from the Wizards.
Budenholzer indicated in the pregame that he will be utilizing Cartier Martin in the starting lineup, but this is the definition of an "all hands on deck" game for Atlanta. It will be interesting to monitor Carroll's status moving forward, but hopefully, he'll be available when the Hawks take to the road on Friday in Detroit.
