The Atlanta Hawks go for a season-best fifth straight win Friday night when they close out a brief two-game road trip with a stop at the Barclays Center to face the Brooklyn Nets.
The Hawks have found their groove of late averaging more than 108 points per game over their last five while shooting better than 50 percent from the floor in each game. Jeff Teague has been the focal point of Atlanta's attack having scored at least 23 points in six of his last eight games. Atlanta is fourth in the league in three-point percentage at 37.7 but they have been red hot knocking down 49 percent from long-range over the last five games.
Atlanta came back from 23 points down on Tuesday to defeat the Celtics and handed the Miami Heat a 112-102 loss on Wednesday behind 27 points from Teague.
After an up and down start to the season, the Brooklyn Nets have somewhat found their footing and have won two straight. Brooklyn took down the Knicks on Tuesday 98-93 and then grinded out a 95-93 win over the Spurs in overtime on Wednesday. That win snapped San Antonio's eight-game winning streak. It was also Brooklyn's first win this season against a team with a better than .500 record.
The Nets have played sound defense of late and held the Spurs to just 36 percent shooting on Wednesday. Over their last six games they are holding opponents to just 95 points per game.
Former Hawks All-Star Joe Johnson enters Friday's game averaging 15.9 points on 44 percent shooting. Johnson scored in double figures in each of the Nets first nine games this season. He has been up and down over the last eight reaching double figures just four times. Johnson finished with 22 points, eight rebounds and six assists in Tuesday's win over the Knicks but followed that up with a eight point, 4-16 shooting performance against the Spurs.
