Hawks assign Mike Muscala to D-League per report

Mike Muscala is headed back to the D-League and will be in uniform on Sunday when the Fort Wayne Mad Ants take on the Austin Spurs.

The Atlanta Hawks have assigned center Mike Muscala to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the NBA D-League according to a report by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Chris Vivlamore. The Hawks have yet to announce the move but Vivlamore is reporting that Muscala will be in uniform for the Mad Ants when they host the Austin Spurs later this evening.

This is Muscala's third D-League assignment this season. He's played three games with the Mad Ants this season and is averaging 15 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. In those three games Muscala is shooting 48 percent from the field and 85 percent from the free throw line.

The Hawks have been one of the most active NBA teams in terms of their D-League use this season. Muscala, first-round pick Adreian Payne and John Jenkins have all had stints in the Development League. The D-League has provided an opportunity for Atlanta's young players to play on a semi-regular basis. The Hawks are off until Tuesday when they will close out 2014 against the Cleveland Cavaliers. There is a good chance Muscala will be recalled prior to that game.
