Its been a while since we checked in on Lamar Patterson and Walter Tavares who are playing overseas this season. Patterson is playing in the Turkish league with Tofas Bursa while Tavares is back with Herbalife Gran Canaria in the Spanish ACB.
Patterson finished with 17 points and three rebounds on 6-9 shooting in a 98-87 win by Tofas over Galatasaray. Tofas Bursa is now 4-7 in the Turkish League. Patterson entered Sunday's game averaging 10.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists. He came into Sunday's game shooting 44 percent from the field and 32 percent from three-point range.
The Hawks traveled to Turkey a few weeks ago to watch Patterson play and have maintained regular contact with him. The current plan is for Patterson to again compete with Atlanta's summer league team next offseason.
Here are some highlights of Patterson's season thus far:
Tavares logged a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds in a 101-92 loss by Gran Canaria to Valencia. Tavares is averaging 7.4 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.9 blocked shots in 12 games in the Liga Endesa this season. Gran Canaria is also competing in the Eurocup where Tavares is averaging 7.1 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.1 blocks in nine games. Tavares is shooting 58 percent from the field in the Liga Endesa and 63 percent in Eurocup action.
