The AJC's Chris Vivlamore reported on Thursday that the Atlanta Hawks were planning to assign John Jenkins and Adreian Payne to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the NBA's Development League. The Hawks made that move official in a press release on Friday. The duo could be in uniform for tonight's game against Delaware.
Payne previously spent a two-game assignment with the Mad Ants last weekend. He averaged 12 points and 10 rebounds in the two games and his 17 point, 13 rebound performance last Saturday helped the Mad Ants capture their first win of the season.
Jenkins has played in six career D-League games over the last two seasons all with the Bakersfield Jam who were Atlanta's D-League affiliate at the time. He averaged 25 points on 53 percent shooting in a pair of games during his rookie season. He averaged 21.5 points on 42 percent shooting in four games last season.
Jenkins has appeared in just one game this season with the Hawks and Payne has yet to make his NBA debut.
