For the second time in approximately a week, the Atlanta Hawks will reportedly be making use of the D-League. Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the team has elected to send both John Jenkins and Adreian Payne to join the Fort Wayne Mad Ants for an undisclosed period of time.
Payne, who was Atlanta's first round selection in the 2014 NBA Draft, spent two games last week with Mad Ants, but this would be the first stint of the year for Jenkins. Neither Payne nor Jenkins has been able to crack the rotation for Mike Budenholzer this season, with the rookie yet to make his NBA debut and Jenkins only appearing in one game (the blowout loss against Cleveland) this season.
As Vivlamore notes, Fort Wayne has six games scheduled over the next 10 days, and it will be interesting to see how long the organization elects to leave Jenkins and Payne in that situation. Playing time can be exceedingly valuable for the development of certain guys, and especially in the case of Payne, each moment could be crucial. Stay tuned.
