Adreian Payne looked much more comfortable on Saturday and put up a solid performance while helping the Fort Wayne Mad Ants to their first win of the season in a 103-93 defeat of the Erie Bayhawks.
Payne got the start at center and finished with 17 points, 13 rebounds and two blocked shots. He finished 4-9 from the field and 9-11 from the free throw line.
As you can see from his shot chart, his touch still isn't fully there but he did a great job on Saturday of using his body to get to the free throw line. He looked a little winded on Friday at the end of both halves which is to be expected after the long stretch of inactivity he had due to the foot injury, but he was able to finish strong in Saturday's game.
The plan was for Payne to play in two games over the weekend and then return to the Hawks. The team has yet to make an announcement but with Fort Wayne off until Friday, there is a good bet that the announcement is made sometime before Tuesday's game.
