The Atlanta Hawks have assigned rookie Adriean Payne to the NBA D-League for a pair of games this weekend according to a report by the AJC's Chris Vivlamore.

Payne has spent nearly the entire season on the inactive list and has yet to make his NBA debut with the Hawks. He has been in uniform for just one game so far this season. He was slowed early on due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot. He appears to be stuck behind several of Atlanta's other bigs in the rotation and the D-League will be a great opportunity for him to play some meaningful minutes and to knock some of the rust off.

Payne will join the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in time for Friday and Saturday's match ups against the Erie Bayhawks.
