The Atlanta Hawks haven't had to deal with any high-profile injury concerns during the 2014-2015 season to this point, but as of Wednesday evening, the time has come. According to the released injury report from the team, starting small forward DeMarre Carroll is listed as doubtful for the game as a result of a groin strain, while ace reserve Mike Scott is listed as questionable with a lower back contusion.
There is a bit of positive news in the form of Adreian Payne, who has been upgraded to probable with plantar fasciitis in his left foot, but the news is slightly troubling surrounding Carroll and Scott. The Hawks had well-documented troubles when Carroll was injured last season, posting a 1-8 record, and if Scott is forced to join the "junkyard dog" on the bench, Atlanta's well-chronicled depth will take a hit.
Stay tuned for more updates as tip-off approaches, but the absence of Carroll and (potentially) Scott could result in additional playing time for the likes of Thabo Sefolosha, Kent Bazemore and even Mike Muscala.
