Paul Millsap will be one of the big name players to hit the open market this summer but he doesn't want to think about that just yet. Millsap told the New York Post on Monday that he is happy in Atlanta but will focus on his future once the season ends.
"There's always some potential here [in Atlanta] for sure but I'm trying not to think about it, trying to put it as far in the back of my head as possible until the end of the year and see what happens."
Naturally that line of questioning led to whether or not Millsap would consider playing in New York.
"Anywhere could be an option. But my loyalty right now is in Atlanta. Free agency is free agency. When it happens, I'll weigh my options and see where I'm at. But I'm happy in Atlanta right now."
Atlanta's roster is flush with short affordable deals which gives them the option of turning the team over quickly should they decide to go that route. Mike Budenholzer has been very complimentary of Millsap during his time in Atlanta and always mentions him as part of the team's core. Still it will be interesting to see what the market is for Millsap this summer and if the Hawks are willing to pay that price or go in a different direction.
