Pero Antic injury: Hawks' center suffers broken nose

Pero Antic will miss the Hawks' first preseason game on Monday due to a broken nose that he suffered in practice.

Atlanta Hawks center Pero Antic underwent surgery on Friday for a broken nose that he suffered during Thursday's practice in Athens. Antic will miss Monday's preseason opener against New Orleans.

With Antic sidelined and Al Horford still limited in his return from last season's pectoral muscle, the Hawks will go into Monday's game with a likely rotation at center consisting of Elton Brand, Mike Muscala and Dexter Pittman. Rookie Adreian Payne could also see some minutes at the center position.

In addition, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that DeMarre Carroll suffered an ankle injury during Saturday's practice. The severity of the injury wasn't immediately known and his status for Monday's opener is unknown.

Kyle Korver also missed Saturday's practice for personal reasons. Korver and his wife are expecting the birth of their second child.

Kent Bazemore continues his recovery from an off season foot injury and is also participating in practice in a limited capacity. He is unlikely to play on Monday and that should provide some minutes for John Jenkins who says he is fully recovered from last season's back injury.
