Jarell Eddie wasn't out of work for long. The former Virginia Tech Hokie who was cut earlier this week by the Atlanta Hawks was claimed on waivers by the Boston Celtics on Thursday according to RealGM's Shams Charania.
The Boston Celtics have claimed forward Jarell Eddie -- Hawks' recent release -- off NBA free agency waivers, league source tells RealGM.

Charania reports that multiple teams placed bids on Eddie but the Celtics were awarded his rights. There is a little known NBA rule that says the final four players cut during training camp can be placed on that team's D-League affiliate. That, according to Jeff Clark of CelticsBlog, appears to be what Boston has planned for Eddie. So expect him to be cut again in the next few days and placed on the Maine Red Claws' roster.
Eddie appeared in three games with the Hawks during the preseason averaging 2.7 points per game.
