Former NBA star Chris Webber is part of a group that has registered interest in purchasing the Atlanta Hawks per a report from Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.
Chris Webber is part of a potential ownership group that has registered interest to NBA about buying the Atlanta Hawks, sources tell Yahoo.

According to the report, Webber would only have a modest investment in the group but is expected to become the prominent figure behind the bid. Wojnarowski reports that Webber's goal would be to become "a prominent figure on the basketball side for the Hawks."
The report also states that the primary investors of Webber's group are expected to become public in the near future and that there are "several" interested parties that are also expected to go public soon.
Previously Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, who is working with the NBA on the sale, said that the goal was to have new ownership in place by the end of the year.
