Fresh from a couple of days off the Atlanta Hawks went to Philadelphia and blew out the 76ers by a score of 125-99.
The Hawks took a 64-52 lead into halftime and then outscored the Sixers 38-23 in the third. Atlanta led by as many as 32 points before turning it over to the reserves for garbage time. Philly struggled to contain Atlanta's offense that was clicking on all cylinders and the Hawks feasted on 21 turnovers by the Sixers.
Mike Scott was one of seven double figures scorers for the Hawks and scored 16 of his 18 points in the second quarter. It was the 10th consecutive game that Scott has scored in double figures as he continues a solid sophomore season in the league.
Elton Brand tied Scott for team-high honors finishing with 18 points and eight rebounds in just under 23 minutes. DeMarre Carroll added 13 points and nine rebounds while Paul Millsap, Jeff Teague and Lou Williams all finished with 12 each. Teague returned from a two game absence due to an ankle injury and recorded a team best eight assists to go along with just one turnover. Atlanta shoots 51 percent from the field and finished with 36 assists on 45 made baskets.
Thaddeus Young did his best to keep the Sixers in the game scoring 23 of his game-high 29 points in the first half. Young went 11-19 from the field and finished with eight rebounds and five steals. Michael Carter-Williams added 17 points and five assists while Elliot Williams scored 15 off the bench.
Gustavo Ayon was the only Hawks starter to see action in the fourth quarter and none of the starters played more than 27 minutes. That is big heading into Saturday's matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves at Philips Arena.
