David Lighty has reportedly accepted an invite to go to training camp with the Atlanta Hawks according to a report by Sportando.net. Lighty averaged 7.7 points and 2.3 assists in three games with the Brooklyn Nets at the Orlando Summer League. He also went to Las Vegas with the Sacramento Kings and averaged 5.8 points while appearing in five games.
Lighty is a 6-6 shooting guard out of Ohio State who spent last season playing for JSF Nanterre in France where he averaged 12.5 points and connected on 43 percent of his three point attempts. Lighty averaged 12.1 points per game as a senior for the Buckeyes in 2011. He has also spent time playing in the Euroleague and in Italy.
Currently the Hawks have some combination of John Jenkins, Lou Williams, Kyle Korver, and DeShawn Stevenson for the shooting guard and small forward positions. Demarre Carroll's signing is expected to be announced soon and Stevenson's $2.2 million contract is non-guaranteed for next season. Mike Scott could also potentially figure into the small forward rotation as could Paul Millsap.
