Al Horford won't be playing with the Dominican Republic this summer at the FIBA Americas according to an announcement by the team. Horford has spent the summer preparing for next season and participating in the NBA's Basketball Without Borders program.

Eduardo Najri, the Dominican Republic's national team general manager, issued a statement supporting Horford's decision:

"I respect his decision to focus on his season and thank him for what he has done the other times he has participated with the team,"

Although it was somewhat expected, Horford's decision is a big blow for the Dominican Republic who will also be without Charlie Villanueva for the FIBA Americas.
