The Hawks signed 17th overall draft pick Dennis Schroeder and made the official announcement on Thursday. Schroeder's deal will be two years guaranteed with two team option years, and is likely worth $7.08 million (approximately) over the four years (calculating at 120% of the rookie contract scale value). By signing Schroeder, the Hawks are guaranteeing that Dennis will be here next season in some capacity whether it is with the Hawks or in the NBA Development League. Schroeder will also be playing for the entirety of this year's Summer League in Las Vegas.
The Hawks have also added Taylor Jenkins to their coaching staff. Jenkins was most recently the head coach for the Austin Toros of the NBA Development League. Jenkins was an assistant with the Toros prior to taking the head job, and was an intern in the San Antonio Spurs Basketball Operations department for the 2007-08 team.
"Taylor is a talented, hard-working coach who has a great grasp of the system that we are going to implement," Mike Budenholzer said. "He gained valuable experience working in the NBA Development League the past five seasons and with his attention to detail and energy, he will be an asset to my staff."
The Hawks coaching staff now consists of head coach Mike Budenholzer along with assistant coaches Quin Snyder, Darvin Ham, Kenny Atkinson, and now Taylor Jenkins.
