Devin Harris was quietly one of the most important players to the Atlanta Hawks' success last season and he figures to be an option for a number of teams once free agency opens this summer. Harris recently spent some time in Dallas for Dirk Nowitzki's celebrity baseball game and talked about his future including a possible return to the Mavericks.
"It's always crossed my mind. It's crossed my mind since I left. Obviously, I think it would be cool to come back. But I also like it in Atlanta. It comes down to what best fits me."
Harris appeared in 54 games with the Hawks and averaged 9.9 points and 3.4 assists. He started 34 games and many times shared the backcourt with Jeff Teague.
Its interesting that Harris apparently hasn't closed the door on Atlanta just yet. If a team makes an offer to Jeff Teague that Atlanta doesn't want to match would Danny Ferry consider bringing back Harris on perhaps a two year deal as a veteran point guard to help mentor and develop first round pick Dennis Schroeder? Seems that one of the risks would be injury for Harris who was hampered by foot and ankle injuries throughout the season.
