The Atlanta Hawks are still reportedly talking trade with the Dallas Mavericks for the No. 13 pick according to ESPN.com's Chad Ford. If the Hawks were able to move up to No. 13 then Ford reports the target would be small forward Giannis Adetokunbo.
The Mavs are talking trades with a bunch of teams, but they still haven't gotten close to a deal. If they do make a deal, it will likely be with the Cavs or Nets for Karasev, or the Hawks for Greece's Giannis Antetokounmpo. If they don't make a deal, they want a draft-and-stash candidate, but they are struggling to find one. That leaves Burke here. The Mavs need a point guard and Burke is also one of the most tradable players left on the board. They'll be able to move him later if they need to.
A few points about this situation. Adetokunbo was viewed as a draft and stash candidate during most of the draft preparations but a report this morning surfaced with his desire to come to the NBA next season. If that is accurate then he would not give the Hawks salary relief this summer and they would in effect likely pay him while he developed on their bench or in the D-League.
Second, Ford's Mock Draft has Trey Burke sliding to the 13th pick and the Hawks are thought to have some interest there as well. Would the Hawks move up to get Adetokunbo? Seems like a stretch to me but it again speaks to the unpredictability that is the 2013 NBA Draft.
