Mike's Scott's double-double not enough as Bakersfield falls in Los Angeles

Mike Scott finished with 25 points and 12 rebounds but the Bakersfield Jam fell to the Los Angeles Defenders 114-99.

USA TODAY Sports

The Bakersfield Jam got off to a good start but couldn't sustain the effort as they fall 114-99 to a shorthanded L.A. Defenders team. The Jam led 26-20 after one but the Defenders took control over the final three periods of play.

Atlanta assignee Mike Scott performed well for the Jam finishing with 25 points and 12 rebounds. Scott hit 7-17 field goal attempts and was 11-12 from the charity stripe. Bakersfield and Los Angeles combined to shoot 76 free throws in the game. Renaldo Major led the Jam with 27 points and Courtney Fortson led the Defenders with 28 points and 10 assists.

The Hawks haven't definitively said how long Scott's assignment might last this time around. Scott will certainly be around for Sunday's rematch against the Defenders but the Bakersfield doesn't play again until Tuesday. The Hawks will wrap up their six-game road trip on Monday and have a home game against Philadelphia on Wednesday. So Scott could conceivably stay with the Jam through Tuesday and be back in Atlanta by the time the Hawks take on the Sixers on Wednesday.
