While it certainly doesn't promise to be easy the Atlanta Hawks could be catching the Indiana Pacers at the right time. The Hawks look to take the season series on Monday night against a Pacers team that has fallen at least temporarily to third place in the Eastern Conference.
Indiana has been without power forward David West for the last four games with a back injury. West has averaged over 20 points per game in three meetings with the Hawks. Tyler Hansbrough has been starting in place of West. Indiana is also without Danny Granger who is out until early April with a knee injury.
Atlanta won both meetings at Philips Arena and dropped a 114-103 decision in in Indiana on February 5.
The Hawks got their four-game road trip off on a positive note on Sunday with a 104-99 win over the Milwaukee Bucks. The victory pulled the Hawks to within four games of the Pacers.
Paul George carries even more of the responsibility with West out and finished with 23 points and 11 rebounds in Saturday's loss to Chicago. George is averaging 17.7 points, 7.9 rebounds and 3.0 assists on the season.
The Hawks could be without a key player on Monday after Devin Harris left Sunday's game due to a sore left foot. He will be evaluated on Monday and his status will be determined before tip off. The Hawks will get back DeShawn Stevenson who sat out Sunday's win so that he'd be fresh against the Pacers and is a good bet to move into the starting lineup with Harris in doubt.
