East Standings tightening around the Atlanta Hawks

The Hawks need a win on Sunday in Milwaukee to hold off the Chicago Bulls that have closed to within a half game of Atlanta in the East Standings.

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Hawks remain in fifth place after Saturday's action but saw things tighten up heading into the start of their four-game road trip on Sunday. New York's four-game winning streak and win over the Raptors on Saturday has moved them back into second place in the East by percentage points over the Indiana Pacers. The Chicago Bulls knocked off the Pacers on Saturday and drew to within a half game of the Hawks for fifth.

The Brooklyn Nets saw their winning streak come to an end and suffered their first loss on their circus road trip. They remain in fourth place and two games in front of Atlanta. The Boston Celtics lost for the fourth straight time and now trail the Hawks by two full games.

The Milwaukee Bucks enter Sunday 3.5 games behind the Hawks and 1.5 back of the Celtics so Sunday's game against Atlanta is important for a variety of reasons.
