Lou Williams surgery on Thursday leaves him with approximately 9-12 months of recovery. With that timetable that would put his return at the earliest in mid-November and perhaps could be later meaning that he is very likely to miss the start of the 2013-14 season.
That timeline is consistent with other players who have recently suffered the same injury. Ricky Rubio tore his ACL in March of 2012 and returned to action in December of 2013 or right at nine months after the injury. Derrick Rose suffered a similar injury in the playoffs last season and is preparing to make his return in the next few weeks.
The Hawks figure to look much different next season after a highly anticipated off season. Williams signed a three-year deal with Atlant a this past summer after playing the first seven seasons of his career in Philadelphia.
For those of you interested in learning more about ACL injuries here is a great video explaining what they do in the knee and how corrective surgery repairs them: (H/T to CelticsBlog for the amazing video)
