Dahntay Jones and Jeremy Tyler both passed their physicals on Friday and are now officially members of the Atlanta Hawks. Both players made it to Atlanta prior to tip off of Friday's win over the Sacramento Kings. Jones was active and played the final 2:27 of the game while Tyler was inactive but it could be a few more days before either see any action in key spots according to head coach Larry Drew.
"Ideally you want to get guys familiar with what we are doing," Hawks coach Larry Drew said. "It would be very difficult for them to step in at this point not having been on the floor and gone through the things we do."
While it remains to be seen what either player's role will be Jones could slide into some playing time particularly when DeShawn Stevenson is unable to go in the second game of back-to-backs.
Jones is thought of as a good defender and the Hawks have struggled at times to matchup from the perimeter. We should see both players at some point on the trip with Jones having the best chance at making an impact at some point.
