John Jenkins and Dennis Schröder made their first appearance with the Bakersfield Jam Friday night and helped the team to a 104-100 win over the L.A. Defenders. The win improves the Jam's record to 2-4 on the season and they will face the Defenders for a third consecutive game on Saturday night.
Neither Jenkins nor Schröder looked particularly crisp but Jenkins turned in an overall efficient effort finishing with 20 points on 6-11 shooting. He found his way to the foul line 10 times where he knocked down seven. Schröder finished with nine points and a team-high six assists but was also saddled with four turnovers and was just 3-11 from the field.
Mac Koshwal led the Jam with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Jon Nunnally added 12 points while Brian Butch logged a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Damion James chipped in 11 points off the bench in his first game back with the Jam. Lakers' assignment player Ryan Kelly led the Defenders with 21 points. Josiah Turner added 17 off the bench.
The two teams meet for a third consecutive matchup Saturday night this time in Los Angeles. Once again you will be able to watch the game here at Peachtree Hoops.
