Clippers vs Hawks preview: Atlanta looks to bounce back against Los Angeles

The Atlanta Hawks hope to get back on track Wednesday night when they host Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and the Los Angeles Clippers at Philips Arena.

The Atlanta Hawks have lost five of six but are coming off one of their most complete efforts of the season in Monday's 102-100 loss to the San Antonio Spurs. They will look to duplicate that effort Wednesday night when they face another Western Conference power the Los Angeles Clippers at Philips Arena.

Atlanta went toe-to-toe with the Spurs on Monday before falling thanks to a game-winning jump shot from Tim Duncan. The Hawks had struggled with slow starts which led to early deficits and had forced them to play from behind for long stretches. They came out engaged against the Spurs and topped 100 points for the second straight game and against one of the league's best defensive units.

They will need a similar effort on Wednesday against a Clippers team that is 12-6 and coming off of a loss to the Indiana Pacers on Sunday. The Clippers have many weapons but they all start with point guard Chris Paul. It is yet another measuring stick match up for Jeff Teague who finished with 19 points and seven assists against Tony Parker and the Spurs on Monday. Atlanta will need another good performance at both ends of the floor from Teague against Paul.

Both teams could be missing one of their key sharpshooters. J.J. Redick is out for the Clippers with a hand fracture and Kyle Korver has missed the last four games with a rib contusion. Korver's status will likely be determined during shootaround or shortly before tip off.
