DeMarre Carroll injury: Hawks forward to miss 2-game road trip

DeMarre Carroll did not make the trip with the Atlanta Hawks to Orlando and will miss the next two games due to a sprained thumb.

The Atlanta Hawks will be without forward DeMarre Carroll for their two game road trip due to a sprained thumb. The AJC's Chris Vivlamore reports that Carroll did not travel with the team to Orlando and won't play in Tuesday's game in Boston.

Carroll played about 19 minutes in Saturday's win over the Bobcats with his thumb heavily taped. It clearly bothered him as he went scoreless in the game missing all four of his shot attempts. Carroll could be seen grimacing in pain on several trips up the court.

Carroll was a game-time decision for Saturday's game and Mike Budenholzer indicated that Lou Williams would start if Carroll was unable to go. Williams scored 28 points in Saturday's win over the Bobcats.

Carroll suffered the injury while trying to fight over a screen by Cleveland's Tyler Zeller in Thursday's win over the Cavaliers. He left the game in the fourth quarter and did not return. X-Rays on his thumb were negative and he was initially listed as day-to-day.

After Tuesday's game in Boston, the Hawks won't play again until Friday when they host the Golden State Warriors.
