DeMarre Carroll injury: Hawks forward day-to-day with sprained thumb

X-rays on DeMarre Carroll's sprained thumb came back negative and he is listed as day-to-day.

The Hawks did get a bit of good news regarding DeMarre Carroll's thumb injury. X-Rays on Carroll's thumb revealed no fracture of ligament damage. Carroll is listed as day-to-day going forward. At this point he would seem unlikely to play in Saturday's matchup against the Charlotte Bobcats but his status will be updated again sometime on Saturday.

Carroll suffered the thumb injury during the fourth quarter of Thursday's win over the Cavaliers. He was injured while trying to fight over a screen by Cleveland's Tyler Zeller.

The Hawks are thin at the small forward position even when Carroll is healthy. Cartier Martin is likely to see additional playing time but has been battling an ankle injury of his own. Martin was available for Thursday's game in Cleveland but did not play.

Mike Budenholzer could also elect to go with Kyle Korver at the small forward and elect to start Lou Williams at the shooting guard position.
