The Atlanta Hawks haven't lost consecutive games yet this season and they will put that to the test Tuesday night at Philips Arena when they take on the Orlando Magic. A subpar fourth quarter cost Atlanta a win on Saturday when they fell to the Boston Celtics 94-87.
The Magic come in having lost four straight games and at 4-9 on the season. Atlanta took the first matchup between the two clubs by a score of 104-94. Jeff Teague led six Hawks players in double figures with 19 points and 13 assists. Arron Afflalo led the Magic with 21 points but Al Horford and company held Nikola Vucevic to just seven points and six rebounds in 33 minutes.
Recent history is certainly in the Hawks' favor as they have defeated the Magic 11 straight times and seven straight at Philips Arena. This Magic team however will look slightly different than the one they defeated earlier this season.
Orlando could be at full strength for the first time this season against the Hawks after getting back Glen Davis and Tobias Harris over the weekend. Rookie Victor Oladipo came off the bench for Orlando in the first meeting and finished with five points and two assists on 2-8 shooting. He has since moved into the starting lineup alongside starting point guard Jameer Nelson as Jacque Vaughn has opted to go small recently.
The Hawks need to be aggressive in their attack against the Magic after shooting a season low 12 free throws in Saturday's loss to the Celtics. Despite Orlando's smaller lineup, holding Vucevic in check will be key again. Vucevic comes in averaging 15.0 points and 10.7 rebounds and will need another solid performance from Horford against him.
Tip off at Philips Arena is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast locally on SportSouth and can be heard over the airways on 92.9 FM "The Game" with veteran broadcaster Steve Holman on the call.
