The Atlanta Hawks look to get back in the win column on Wednesday when they host the Detroit Pistons at Philips Arena. The game is the much anticipated return of Josh Smith to Atlanta where he spent the first nine seasons of his career.
Atlanta played shorthanded on Tuesday falling to the Miami Heat 104-88 without Paul Millsap and Lou Williams. Millsap didn't make the trip due to an elbow injury and is listed as day-to-day by the team. He is likely a game-time decision for Wednesday's game. Williams is not playing in back-to-back games yet since returning from last season's ACL tear. He expected to be a go tonight against Detroit.
Detroit added to the New York Knicks' woes Tuesday night defeating them 92-86 at the Palace. The Pistons are now 4-6 on the season and are one of the worst teams in the league defensively despite adding Smith to their lineup.
After a slow start, Josh has played better of late. He still though is not playing to his strengths and being positioned at small forward isn't necessarily helping the cause. The self proclaimed "mid-range shawty" has become "long-range shawty" this season as he is attempting an eye-popping 5.7 three-point attempts per game. His percentage from deep is up to 31 percent on the season. More concerning for Detroit should be that his rebounding, assists and blocks are all down from last season.
Tip off from Philips Arena is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and the game will be available to watch on SportSouth or listen in on 92.9 FM "The Game"
