The Atlanta Hawks used a balanced effort across the board to hand the New York Knicks their fifth consecutive home loss by a score of 110-90. Atlanta avenges an earlier loss this week to the Knicks and improves to 6-4 on the season.

New York led 26-24 after one but the Hawks forged ahead in the second and were able to keep the Knicks at arms length before pulling away in the fourth. Atlanta continually attacked the paint with Jeff Teague again setting the tone and challenging New York to make the right decisions defensively against the pick and roll.

Teague's penetration opened things up for Atlanta's shooters and the Hawks knocked down 56 percent of their shots in the game. That more than made up for the 48-36 advantage the Knicks had on the glass. New York grabbed 19 offensive rebounds in the game which led to 25 second chance points. Those second chance points were the only thing that kept this game from being a blowout a lot sooner.

Eight different Hawks players scored in double figures led by Jeff Teague's 16. Kyle Korver extended his three-point streak to 83 straight games and finished with 15 points. Paul Millsap moved back into the starting lineup and came up huge down the stretch finishing with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Al Horford and DeMarre Carroll finished with 12 and 10 respectively.

Atlanta's bench helped set the tone in the second quarter led by reserve point guard Shelvin Mack. Mack scored seven of his 12 points in the second and also finished with 12 assists. He came into the game having appeared in just four games but Mike Budenholzer elected to give him the nod over rookie Dennis Schröder and the move paid off big time. Mike Scott added 11 points and Gustavo Ayon turned in a solid performance with 10 points and five rebounds. All told Atlanta's bench outscored New York's bench 43-26.

Carmelo Anthony led the Knicks with 23 points and 12 rebounds but was just 8-21 from the field. Andrea Bargnani added 16 points and nine boards while Iman Shumpert tossed in 11. J.R. Smith had a forgettable night finishing with seven points on 3-18 shooting including 1-9 from three-point range.

Next up for the Hawks is a trip to Miami on Tuesday to take on the defending champion Heat. Atlanta is back at home on Wednesday when former Hawks forward Josh Smith makes his first return to Philips Arena as a member of the Detroit Pistons.
