The Hawks still have at least one more cut to make to get their roster down to the 15 player minimum. Cartier Martin and Eric Dawson are the only two players left that are on training camp invites.
Ivey appeared in three preseason games, averaging 3.7 points and and two assists. The move likely means that Atlanta will open the season with rookie Dennis Schröder and Shelvin Mack as point guard options behind starter Jeff Teague. Mack's deal is unguaranteed but it seems unlikely that Atlanta would open the season with just two options at point guard with Lou Williams also injured.
Atlanta has until Tuesday to make their final cut. They will open the season on Wednesday in Dallas.
Update - The Hawks have confirmed the move via official press release
