Lucas Nogueira injury: Hawks' draft pick out 3 weeks with hamstring injury

Lucas Nogueira made his season debut for Estudiantes last week but will now miss three weeks due to a hamstring injury.

Lucas Nogueira will miss the next three weeks while recovering from a hamstring injury, Estudiantes has announced on their official website. Nogueira made his season debut this past weekend in an 80-66 win over CB Valladolid. He finished with 12 points and six rebounds in 28 minutes but came away sore afterwards. The team later made the decision to shut him down to allow the injury to heal.

Nogueira also missed a portion of the preseason and sat out the season opener against Unicaja. He is expected to miss three games against Kutxa, UCAM Murcia and Herbalife Gran Canaria.

Sounds like Nogueira has been banged up pretty much all season with the hamstring becoming a nagging issue. Three weeks should allow him the time to heal completely and hopefully get back on the court.

Big picture-wise it's worth noting in regards to the Hawks, who are in the beginning stages of retooling. Atlanta drafted Nogueira in the first round of the 2013 NBA Draft but elected to have him return to Spain to continue to develop in the Liga Endesa.
