The Atlanta Hawks were back on the floor Wednesday for Day 2 of Training Camp in Athens. Second-year forward Mike Scott returned to practice per a report from the AJC one day after sitting out the scrimmage portion of practice with an ankle injury. Scott practiced with the second team where a lot of different players were worked into the mix per the report.

Head Coach Mike Budenholzer told Hawks.com that they were looking to build off of Tuesday's good start to camp on Wednesday and felt that they accomplished that. The Hawks will hold another closed practice session later tonight before wrapping up their stint in Athens with a single session on Thursday.

Competition was an often used word at Monday's media day and there are a few potential battles that could develop during the preseason. Kyle Korver's inclusion at shooting guard combined with the absence of Lou Williams could open up a potential opportunity for a forward like Damien Wilkins or James Johnson. Atlanta has an open roster spot and both players saw time with the second team on Wednesday.

Another area to keep an eye on is the point guard position where rookie Dennis Schroder looks like the backup to incumbent starter Jeff Teague. However, there could be a competition brewing between veteran Royal Ivey and Shelvin Mack whose contract is not guaranteed. Ivey brings a little more size to the position in addition to his experience and you could see a situation where the coaching staff might want an extra defender in the backcourt. Will be interesting to see how it develops once the preseason schedule gets underway.
