The Atlanta Hawks will get a familiar face back in the lineup in time for Friday night's game against the Brooklyn Nets. Josh Smith returns from a one-game suspension Friday night in Brooklyn with the Hawks coming off a spirited 109-95 win on Wednesday.
Atlanta had lost six of seven going into Wednesday but came out with a solid and focused effort. They used their speed and quickness as an advantage by pushing the ball out on the fast break where they scored 29 points. Jeff Teague finished with 28 points and 11 assists against the Nets and the Hawks moved to 3-0 this season without Smith in the lineup.
Brooklyn fell flat on Wednesday and Atlanta is no doubt expecting a better performance on Friday. The Hawks will be trying to snap a five-game road losing streak when they take the floor at the Barclays Center for the first time.
DeShawn Stevenson will miss Friday's game and won't be available again until Monday after receiving a cortisone shot in his right knee following Wednesday's game. Anthony Morrow is day-to-day with hip/back injuries and his status will be determined a little closer to game time.
