The New Orleans Hornets are just 7-23 on the season but are healthy for really the first time this season with the return of Eric Gordon to the lineup. Gordon made his season debut off the bench in Saturday's 98-95 win over Charlotte and finished with 24 points and seven assists in just 25 minutes. His presence no doubt injects the Hornets with life and Atlanta will need to match that energy early on.
Atlanta went down in a barrage of three-point baskets to the Rockets on Monday. Houston's James Harden scored 28 points and the Rockets hit 16 threes as a team to put an end to the Hawks' four-game winning streak. Lou Williams led Atlanta with 21 points and Josh Smith returned from a one-game absence to score 17. Smith had missed the previous game with a groin injury but is expected to play on Tuesday against the Hornets.
The Hawks are without guards Anthony Morrow and Devin Harris who remained behind in Atlanta to get treatment on injuries. Neither will play until Saturday at the earliest. That provides more of an opportunity at playing time for rookie John Jenkins who played a career-high 24 minutes on Monday and responded with a career-best 15 points on 6-9 shooting.
This will be Atlanta's first look against last season's No. 1 pick Anthony Davis who enters the game averaging 14.7 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.
