NBA Mock Draft 2013: DraftExpress projects Giannis Adetokunbo, Sergey Karasev to the Atlanta Hawks

DraftExpress' latest mock draft has a pair of international products landing with the Atlanta Hawks.

The NBA Draft is just a day away and DraftExpress' latest mock draft has the Atlanta Hawks going with a pair of international products if they hold onto the No. 17 and 18 picks.

Giannis Adetokunbo has become a popular name associated with the Hawks of late for a couple of reasons. He is rising small forward prospect out of Greece who at 6-9 could develop nicely down the road. The view is also that Atlanta would be able to stash him overseas and could hold off on paying him for a season or two while he further develops and thus freeing up salary cap space in the meantime. There have been questions about Adetokunbo's ceiling and the quality of competition that he has faced but many believe that he won't drop below Atlanta in Thursday's draft.

At No. 18 DraftExpress projects shooting guard Sergey Karasev to the Hawks. At 6-7, Karasev is a couple of inches shorter than Adetokunbo but is advertised as a shooter which he put on display at the Nike Hoop Summit. He did however only hit 31 percent of his jump shots during his team's season but was the focal point of the offense at age 19 against some of Europe's top competition. The scouts believe he will be a shooter in the NBA and most reports indicate that he wants to come over and begin his career next season.

DraftExpress has Jamaal Franklin sliding all the way down to Minnesota at No. 26 and I am not convinced that Atlanta would go with Karasev at this point over Franklin.

Other notables:

  • Trey Burke at No. 6 to New Orleans
  • Mason Plumlee at No. 14 to Utah
  • Shabazz Muhammad at No. 15 to Milwaukee
  • Gorgui Dieng at No. 25 to the Clippers
