The Atlanta Dream aren't worried about their slow start to the season but they certainly don't want to see their current two-game losing skid reach three when they face the San Antonio Silver Stars Friday night at Philips Arena. After two straight losses to the Chicago Sky and New York Liberty Atlanta's record has dropped to 2-4 on the season but can draw on last season's 3-9 start as proof that a turnaround is possible.
One area of concern might be the amount of new faces on the team. Players like Iziane Castro Marques, Shalee Lehning, Allison Bales and Coco Miller are gone. In there place are young players like Aneika Henry and Tiffany Hayes and whether the team wants to admit it or not there is a transition period.
Dream point guard Lindsey Harding talked about the team's start and the team's chemistry with all of the new faces.
"The teams that do the best this early are the teams that get chemistry very quickly. I'm not saying that we don't have it, but we do have a lot new faces, a lot of new rotations."
The Dream are also missing starting center Erika de Souza who is with her national team as they prepare for Olympic competition. She is expected to return to the Dream after the WNBA's Olympic break in August. She will provide an instant shot in the arm but Atlanta can ill-afford to bury itself early.
Friday's game gets underway from Philips Arena at 7:30 p.m. and can be seen on SportSouth.
