NBA Mock Draft 2012: Andrew Nicholson To Hawks Says NBA.com

Presswire

(From SB Nation Atlanta - Kris Willis) Draft projections for the Atlanta Hawks are all over the board ranging from guards like Washington's Tony Wroten to a center like Syracuse big man Fab Melo. Scott Howard-Cooper of NBA.com introduces a new name into the discussion with St. Bonaventure power forward Andrew Nicholson.

While it is no secret that the Hawks need a little bit of everything with only six players currently under contract for next season power forward isn't a position that is discussed frequently because the team already has two players inJosh Smith and Al Horford that are capable of playing the position. One thing the Hawks lack is a true scorer in the low post and Nicholson could help with that considerably.

However, ESPN.com's Chad Ford doesn't think Nicholson will be available by the time the Hawks pick after a solid showing by Nicholson at the draft combine.

Nicholson shot the ball as well as most of the guards at the NBA predraft camp, and measured with a huge 7-4 wingspan and the biggest hands at the camp. It's pretty rare that a guy who won Defensive Player of the Year in his conference is drawing raves for his offensive performance on the court. We had him pegged as the 22nd pick in the draft for the past few mocks, but I'm beginning to doubt that he'll make it to the Celtics.
