Joe Johnson's stellar play of late has earned him an NBA Player of the Week nod for the games ending on March 25. The Hawks went 4-1 in that stretch capped off by the quadruple-overtime 139-133 win over the Utah Jazz on Sunday. Johnson scored a season-best 37 points in that contest.
Johnson averaged 23.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists for the week but more importantly for Atlanta was the clutch baskets he made in wins over Cleveland, Washington and Utah that either tied or put the Hawks ahead late.
Johnson is averaging 19.3 points on 43 percent shooting this season in 44 games for the Hawks. Johnson missed a stretch of games around the All-Star break with tendinitis in his knee. After shutting it down to let that heal, his game has gone to another level. Atlanta is still very much in the battle for home court advantage in the first round of the playoffs and Johnson's play down the stretch will be key to remain in that battle.
