With a slight break in the schedule I thought it might be a good time to look at the current Eastern Conference standings where the Atlanta Hawks currently sit in the No. 4 spot. Currently they are 30 games into the 66-game season and at 19-11 are one game behind third place Philadelphia in the standings. The Hawks currently have the same record as the Orlando Magic but Atlanta owns the tiebreaker.
1. Chicago | 25 | 7 | .781 | - | W2 |
2. Miami | 23 | 7 | .767 | 1.0 | W4 |
3. Philadelphia | 20 | 10 | .667 | 4.0 | L1 |
4. Atlanta | 19 | 11 | .633 | 5.0 | W1 |
5. Orlando | 19 | 11 | .633 | 5.0 | W3 |
6. Indiana | 18 | 12 | .600 | 6.0 | W1 |
7. Boston | 15 | 14 | .517 | 8.5 | L2 |
8. New York | 15 | 15 | .500 | 9.0 | W7 |
9. Milwaukee | 12 | 17 | .414 | 11.5 | L3 |
Interestingly spots 4-6 are only separated by two games and have been that way for some time now. There is a good chance that we could see more separation at the top and then an interesting race for seeding coming down the stretch. The Knicks seven game winning streak has them back in the playoff picture and a three game losing streak by the Bucks has Milwaukee looking like they may fall out of the race.
Here is a quick look at the remaining February schedule:
