John Jenkins and Mike Scott continue their D-League assignment Tuesday night when the Bakersfield Jam hosts the L.A. D-Fenders. Jenkins shined in his debut scoring 22 points on 8-13 shooting in a 102-95 win over Santa Cruz Monday. Jenkins felt his way through most of the first half before finding a rhythm in the third quarter. He displayed clearly the pure shooting stroke that caught the Hawks and Danny Ferry's eye prior to last season's draft. For Jenkins now the improvement must come in the other facets of the game.
The Hawks haven't yet announced how long Jenkins and Scott's assignments might last. When asked about his two rookies, Larry Drew said that no decision had been made and that they would reevaluate the situation before Wednesday's game.
"Don't know yet," he said. "Right now, it makes sense in our schedule. ... We'll make a decision whether to bring them back for our game on Wednesday or make this a little longer."
The Hawks currently have 14 players on their roster counting both Jenkins and Scott. Kyle Korver's back injury could also play into the decision. Bakersfield is off on Wednesday and Thursday before heading to Reno to take on the Bighorns on Friday and Saturday.
