While the Atlanta Hawks are enjoying a weekend off after Friday's loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, their two rookies are headed to California to join the Bakersfield Jam of the NBA Development League. The Hawks announced the move on Saturday and the duo could make their D-League debut on Monday against the Santa Cruz Warriors.
Jenkins and Scott will be joining a couple of familiar faces with the Jam. Both Damion James and Isma'il Muhammed are playing with the Jam after being cut by the Hawks during training camp. Muhammed was the first cut made but James made it until the final days of camp in what proved to be a difficult roster decision. They will also join Phoenix point guard Kendall Marshall who has also been assigned to the Jam.
Bakersfield is coached by Will Voigt who is in his third season with the team. The Jam finished 29-21 last season and had the biggest turnaround of any team in the D-League. Bakersfield finished 17-33 during Voigt's first season.
Bakersfield is 2-1 on the season and defeated Idaho 125-119 on Thursday.
